Belfast’s Neil Sinclair knows he is drinking in the last chance saloon when he meets England’s “Fearless” Francis Jones at the Hunky Dorys Fight Night at the Point, Dublin this Saturday.
The two men were originally scheduled to meet at the Point in March but big punching Sinclair had to withdraw with a calf injury. Sinclair, a former undefeated British Champion and World title challenger knows that this is a must win fight while Jones has said that he is already relishing the chance of adding Sinclair’s scalp to his record. Olusegun-Reid undercard wrap-up
John McDermott has been a figure of fun on internet boxing forums over the years. Fans are quick to highlight the spare tyre that is permanently stapled to John’s waist and have argued he is the latest in a long line of horizontal British heavyweights sporting a padded record.
Casting aside McDermott’s appearance, the cold facts would suggest they are right. McDermott has been found wanting every time he has stepped up in class, notably when he was wiped out in just 79 seconds against Matt Skelton in a failed British title challenge 18 months ago.
Maybe I’ve got a soft spot for Big Bad John’s soft spot, but after seeing him make light work of Luke Simpkin on Friday I feel that the 26-year-old is still capable of making an impression on an ordinary domestic division. Read the rest of this entry »
