Witter gets home advantage for Harris defence

Junior Witter will make the second defence of his WBC light-welterweight crown against mandatory challenger Vivian Harris at the St.George’s concert hall in Bradford on September 7. The Bradford switch-hitter claimed the vacant title by outpointing DeMarcus Corley last September and has since made one defence, stopping Mexico’s Arturo Morua in January.

Former WBA champion Harris sealed his crack with a hard-fought points victory over Juan Lazcano in a WBC title eliminator. Hennessy Sports will promote the contest which is expected by televised live on SKY.


Johanneson Seeks Revenge

Carl Johanneson is looking for revenge on July 13 when he steps into the ring with Leva Kirakosyan, who inflicted Johanneson’s only loss in a British ring.

Johanneson first stepped up against the formidable Armenian in December 2004 and history shows Kirakosyan, 25-4 (16), gained one of his 16 stoppages by knocking Johanneson out in the first round. Read the rest of this entry »
