Sinclair’s last chance

Belfast’s Neil Sinclair has been handed a final opportunity to salvage his once promising career when he challenges Italy’s unbeaten Daniel Petrucci for the EU welterweight crown in Rome on Saturday night.

Sinclair’s career looked finished after he suffered three defeats in four fights against Taz Jones (cut eye retirement), Jerome Ellis (KO6 in America) and Francis Jones (TKO5) in a miserable spell between March 2005 and June 2007. Read the rest of this entry »


Elcock & McDermott sent to Coventry

Wayne Elcock’s first defence of his British middleweight title against Darren McDermott will now take place at the Coventry Skydome on June 20, not Birmingham’s Aston Events Centre as previously planned. The intriguing Midland’s derby between Elcock (Birmingham) and McDermott (Dudley) was originally due to happen in April but had to be postponed when Elcock went down with a chest infection.

Elcock has fond memories of Coventry’s Skydome arena. It was the scene of his British title winning effort against Howard Eastman in an upset points win last September. Read the rest of this entry »
