Fans eagerly awaiting to learn the identify of David Haye’s heavyweight opponent will have to wait a little longer. Unfortunately tomorrow’s (September 3rd) Hayemaker Boxing press conference at the O2 Arena has been postponed. It’s likely to be re-scheduled for September 16.
In a brief statement, Hayemaker Boxing said: “We were hoping to announce David Haye’s first heavyweight opponent tomorrow but, in a surprise to everyone, the opponent with whom we had a verbal agreement decided to pull out of the fight late last night. That u-turn left everyone in limbo and David and Adam (Booth) decided it wasn’t worth merely announcing the date and venue tomorrow. We plan to send out a press release further explaining the reasons for the cancellation before tomorrow morning.”

The press had him all but retired and out of boxing after his last fight, but Wayne McCullough is eyeing up a historical Irish comeback in October.
The Irish boxing legend had sparked rumours he had eventually decided to hang up his gloves when, after retiring on his stool after six rounds against Juan Ruiz, he addressed the crowd and said. “I think this is my last fight and I want to thank you all for coming. I’m disappointed with the way things went but I just felt I couldn’t go on.”
The Olympic Silver medalist and former world super-bantamweight champion has since refuted reports he was ready to pick up his pension and it appears he will prove the doubters wrong if he steps into the ring in Dublin next month. Read the rest of this entry »

I celebrated getting married to my long-time partner Ann-Marie on 9 August and spent my honeymoon in Costa Rica which explains the lack of content on this site throughout August. Thank you to those loyal readers who have been wondering!
I’m guessing I was the only person sat on the beach compiling a british boxing rankings list, but having read the latest editions of Boxing News and Boxing Monthly several times over it seemed like the only thing left to do, with the exception of grabbing a glass of vino from the bar.
So, to see where I rate Britain’s top 10 boxers in each division, please click the link below. As always, rationally worded feedback is most welcome. Read the rest of this entry »

David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye’s eagerly-awaited “heavyweight debut” will be officially announced tomorrow at Greenwich’s magnificent O2 Arena, according to Hayemaker’s latest press release. To be slightly pedantic, Haye has already made his heavyweight debut, when he impressively trounced Tomasz Bonin inside a round last April.
The Hayemaker subsequently returned to the cruiserweight division to register standout stoppage wins over Jean Marc Mormeck (TKO 7) and Enzo Maccarinelli (TKO 2) as he romped to the WBA, WBC and WBO cruiserweight titles. Read the rest of this entry »

Leicester dustman Rendall Munroe will make the second defence of his European super-bantamweight title against French based Armenian Arsen Martirosian at Nottingham’s Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre on Friday. The bill marks the first of promoter Frank Maloney’s new two-year deal with broadcaster Sky Sports.
And, according to Maloney, if the 28-year-old Munroe sees off Martirosian he could land a major fight against Bernard Dunne if the Irishman accepts the offer which he claims is on the table. The pocket-sized promoter is also looking towards Canada’s IBF champion Steve Molitor, and is confident Munroe can become his fifth major world champion. Maloney has already expertly steered Lennox Lewis, Paul Ingle, Scott Harrison and David Haye to world title glory. Munroe is currently ranked 8th by the IBF and the WBA. Read the rest of this entry »
