Macklin links up with Gallagher ahead of British title challenge

Matthew Macklin will now be trained by Joe Gallagher ahead of his spicy British middleweight title challenge to fellow Brummie Wayne Elcock in Birmingham on March 7.

Macklin’s decision to join Gallagher’s Gym in Manchester will see him return to the Phonenix gym, the long-time residence of his ex-trainer Billy Graham that has now been acquired and re-named by Gallagher following Graham’s retirement. Read the rest of this entry »

British lightweight champion John Murray is aiming to make an early impression in 2009 and he believes he will become one of Britain’s new boxing stars this year. The Manchester lightweight defends his British crown against Lee McAllister at the Robin Park Centre in Wigan on Saturday, 17th January 2009 in a fight that will be shown live on ITV4.
