I like Carl Froch and I think he’s a good fighter but his constant talk about people ducking him is getting tiresome. He’s not THAT good. Neither Calzaghe nor Taylor are ducking him through fear and he knows that. The money just isn’t there and there are bigger fights elsewhere for them.

Just play the waiting game Froch. If you’re really that good you’ll get the big fights eventually. Personally i think a few routine defences in Nottingham wouldn’t be a bad idea. He’d still get a bit of money for them and the longer he holds onto the title the more the others will have to take him on. I think then a fight with Sakio Bika or Anthony Mundine would be the sort of fight that’d set him up. Bika is IBO champ and if he could beat him that’s a bigger, more credible name than Pascal which is his best yet. He’d then have two belts, a few defences and a unification showdown with Bute or Kessler would be eagerly anticipated.

Fury looked a lot leaner in the last fight and let’s hope he keeps that going cos there’s still a lot of work he needs to do to harden up that body. But if he does then a fitter, faster more mobile Fury is definitely a prospect.

If he’s serious about making his way on the British scene (which he must do before he looks further afield) then he needs to be fighting guys like Sexton early on, just as he’s looking to do. I’d also like to see him fight Matthew Ellis cos he’s been in with both Audley and Enzo and that’d give us a good indicator of how good Fury is. After that i’d like to see him taking on the likes of Scott Gammer and having genuine tough fights before a showdown with Chisora (if he’s still unbeaten) then step up to meet Williams/Rogan/Skelton. That’d see him reach the 15/20 fight mark as a British and probabaly European champion. And only then is it time to think about people like Ruiz and Chagaev.

If any of that actually happens Pigs will probably be flying.

No that is not the reason! A lot of fighters get caught cold, Dunne would beat Martinez in a rematch with ease. And what has Rendall Munroe outpointing Martinez (which was a spilt decision by the way!) have to do with Dunne’s career. Munroe, if you really feel the need to involve him in the discussion, has been fighting mediocre opponents since winning the EBU title and is in a lot of peoples opinions stuggling with them!
Bernard Dunne will get a World title shot and he has a far better chance of winning a title than Munroe will ever have. That comment smacks of envy as it is true, Bernard Dunne is the most marketable superbantam in the world and his boxing skills are far superior to Munroe’s.
I don’t expect you to publish this comment though, but I would like to be proved wrong!

I saw Fury’s last fight and was quite impressed, he has the raw talent and ability and was an accomplished amateur. He needs tougher fights to help shape his destiny.

Collado (Acosta) made it to the finals, but Laffita beat him 12:3. Mesa was in his corner. I have a copy of this fight.
The 75kg finals was Correa beating Arinoides Despaigne 19:1. He has been heavily dominating the division for the last 2-3 years (also won gold at the Panams in Brazil, and was the one sent to he 2005 worlds). Garcia was not even at the nationals in 2008.

It’s nice to promote the Cuban newcomers, but publishing lies and undermining the efforts of the Cuban boxers who won their Beijing berths fair and square is not the way to do this.

Acosta did *not* beat Laffita. Andry beat him 12:3.

And when was the last time Campoalegre (Luis Garcia) fought Correa? Certainly not at the 2008s, where Emilio was shutting cats out by huge margins. As far as I can gather, Campoalegre wasn’t even at the 2008 nationals. I was there watching both Laffitta and Correa fight, and these claims are absolute BS.
In fact, at the 2007 nationals, Garcia lost to Napoles in the semifinals, who in turn lost to Correa in the finals. Correa also beat Garcia 16:8 at the Cordova Cardin tourney that year.
